Orthopedic Insights: Dealing with ACL Nerve Damage

Question: I had an ACL recon in february of 2014. I have not been able to feel a certain area on my right leg, just below the knee, ever since. My leg recently started itching in that exact spot for about 15-20 minutes and all of the feeling that was once lost after the surgery, has returned. After 3 and a half years, how does something like that just come back?

There is a little nerve branch that almost always gets cut with the incision used for ACL surgery. Nerves from the surrounding area generally eventually take over the sensation from the area of the cut nerve. Yours took a little longer than normal, but better late than never.
