Question:
I recently injured my wrist. How long is too long to wait on a scaphoid injury? Meaning, how quickly does necrosis set in?

Dr. Foreman Says:

The sooner the better. Not all scaphoid fractures result in avascular necrosis – some just don’t heal. But the longer you go without treatment the less chance there is of getting it to heal without surgery.
