Question: I am having concerns with my syndesmptic screw. Should I remove the screw or let it break, which is highly likely, with the possibilities of further complications?
I have a number of patients who have broken syndesmotic screws and I can’t recall any problems with any of them. Some, however, don’t like the thought of having a broken screw and get it removed. I agree that it is almost inevitable that with time it will break. The surgery for removal is simple with a very quick recovery.
