Question: What is the average length of time it takes for a wrist ligament tear to heal? What is the most common wrist injury and what can an athlete do to avoid injury?
Some wrist ligaments heal in 4-6 weeks, some don’t heal without surgery. As far as most common wrist injuries, it would have to be wrist contusions (bruises) and sprains. Avoiding injury is impossible unless you just don’t play sports – then you won’t get injured. Minimizing the chance of injury is a combination of being in good physical shape, using appropriate protective equipment, and playing with “correct” form and fundamentals.
