Tyler State Park

Children 12 and under are Free.

The Tyler State Park is a top-rated park and is excellent for friends and family. It is dog-friendly as well but must always be on a leash. They have many different amenities, activates, and trails to keep you busy. This Park also allows you to stay overnight.

Trails:

  • 13-mile trails that are accessible for biking, walking, and skating.
  • 8 different hiking trails, 2 of those in which are strictly hiking only.
  • The difficulty level of the trails ranges from easy, moderate, and challenging.

Amenities:

Picnic Areas for both large and small groups, Restrooms, Parking, Boat Ramps, Camping Areas, Water/ Electric Sites, Full Hookups for Trailers, Limited Service Cabins, State Park Store.

Purtis Creek State Park

Purtis Creek State Park has plenty of activities for all ages. This Park k is a fun, friendly, and family environment. This park is nearby other activities such as Cedar Creek Reservoir, Lake Tyler, Great Texas Wildlife Trails, and First Monday Trade Days.

Trails:

  • 4.1 – mile Wolfpen hike and bike trail
  • 1.7 – mile Beaver Slide Nature Path, which will take you alongside the Lake
  • Easy Trail along the dam Solar Trail

Amenities:

59 Campsites, with water and electricity

5 walk-in tent sites

13 hike-in sites Shop, where they offer supplies, outdoor equipment, bait, gifts, souvenirs and ice.

Rose Rudman Recreational Trail

Rose Rudman Recreational is a perfect park for last minute family time. This Park is close to town and is connected to Southside Park as well. It is a perfect place for both short and long hikes. The Tyler Cancer Bell is featured in this park. It is a place of honor and remembrance for cancer patients, their families, and caregivers.

    Mineola Nature Preserve on the Sabine River is a wonderful park if you like to hike, walk, or bike. The Preserve is kept very well maintained. It has games throughout the park as well. This park is perfect for groups of friends and family to spend quality time together and make memories. Mineola has the largest collection of multi-purpose hiking trails in East Texas. Mineola Nature Preserve on the Sabine River has many different trails such as paddling trail, walking trails, equestrian trails, mountain bike trails, and the aquatic loop.

    Lindsey Park Trail is known to be best from March until October. These trails are well-kept, with good marking along the way. They have mountain biking features accessible on the hiking trails as well, which can make the trails more interesting. Dogs are allowed but must always be on a leash.

    Creekside Trail

    Creekside Trail is a moderately trafficked out and back trail that is located near Kilgore, Tx. This trail features a river that brings a relaxing mood while walking along the trails. It is good for all skill levels and is dog friendly if the dog stays always leashed. They have a well-paved path with mile markers along the way and are a mostly shaded trail.

    Legacy Trail

    The legacy trail is a concrete trail that is in the category of Rail-Trails. The trail is a 10-foot-wide concrete trail that allows plenty of room for different paces coming through. This trail is only accessible on Three Lakes Parkway. Legacy Trail is an ongoing project that they are constantly expanding.

    Paul Boorman Trail Park is leveled at easy. This trail is heavily trafficked and is an out and back trail. This trail is for all skill levels. It is well-maintained and paved. Boorman is dog friendly but must always be leashed. People love to see the Deer while walking through the trail. It is also known to be a quiet trail. There is plenty of shade and beautiful scenery.

    Lanana Creek Trail

    Laguna Creek Trail was originally an Indian footpath. The trail goes through primarily cottonwood and oak forests, and you hit floodplain prairies towards the end. It has a creek running right alongside a rail between the path and the creek.
