Congratulations to the Gilmer Buckeyes, winners of 2015’s 16th Annual Azalea Orthopedics 7 0n 7 football tournament.

The Gilmer Buckeyes, who will be defending state champions of 4A Division II when they take the field this fall, defeated the Liberty-Eylau Leopards, 31-21, in the championship round of the 16th annualAzalea Orthopedics 7 on 7 Tournament held here Saturday, May 9.
The Gilmer Buckeyes’ varsity 7-on-7 team won the tournament on Saturday with an impressive 6-0 record. The Buckeyes were joined by Daingerfield, Elysian Fields, Grace Community, Hallsville, Liberty-Eylau, Lindale, Longview, Sulphur Springs, T.K. Gorman and Waskom.
The Buckeyes started the day with a 41-31 win over Grace Community from Tyler, followed by a 34-27 victory against Daingerfield and a 42-14 blow out of Lindale. Gilmer then defeated T.K. Gorman of Tyler 43-14 in the quarterfinals, followed by a 38-12 win over Waskom in the semifinals.
