Travel Scholarship Presentation

Dr. Justin Bartley, Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon at Azalea Orthopedics, has worked with UT Health East Texas medical students and residents to write 3 papers over the past year, regarding complex sports cases treated at Azalea Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.  

Two of these papers are submitted for publication and have been accepted for presentation at the upcoming American Medical Society for Sports Medicine meeting in Kansas City, Missouri in April, 2025.  

Dr. Bartley is providing ‘travel scholarships’ to both presenters to help with travel costs and allow them to present their work at the upcoming sports medicine meeting.  The recipients of these scholarships are Anna Bergquist, MD  and Gaurav Singh, Medical Student at UT Health East Texas – congratulations to both!  The topics of their papers are listed below:

Azalea is excited for future opportunities to participate and help with the medical education of UT Health East Texas medical students and residents.  Our ongoing efforts at Azalea to participate in research and medical education include teaching UT Health East Texas Family Medicine residents in Athens, teaching UT Health East Texas Sports Fellows/Residents/Medical Students in Tyler, and hosting a monthly ‘Complex Sports Rounds’ to collaborate and foster teamwork with community physicians, athletic trainers, and physical therapists to better care for East Texas athletes.
