Azalea Orthopedics is proud to welcome our 25th physician to the practice — Dr. Marcel Wiley. He comes to Azalea from the world-renowned Norton Leatherman Spine Center in Louisville, Kentucky where he completed his fellowship in adult and pediatric spine surgery.
Dr. Wiley joins spine surgeons — Dr. Michael Merrick, Dr. Todd Raabe and Dr. Michael Russell as part of the Azalea Orthopedics Spine Surgery Team.

Dr. Wiley grew up about two hours northeast of Tyler in Allen, TX. He is a proud third generation Longhorn graduate. Dr. Wiley completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009. He attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, graduating in 2013. He then completed a five-year residency in orthopedic surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, while also completing a residency in pediatric orthopedics and spinal deformity at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, both in Dallas. Dr. Wiley concluded a one-year fellowship at the Norton Leatherman Spine Center.
Dr. Wiley’s clinical interests include degenerative conditions of the neck and back, spinal deformity surgery, minimally invasive and motion sparing procedures. He also has a special interest in robotic spinal surgery and navigated techniques.
“My goal is to provide each of my patients with the best plan to get them back to living their normal lives,” said Dr. Wiley. “Neck, back and nerve pain can be incredibly debilitating, but with the multidisciplinary approach that Azalea Orthopedics offers, my hope is that we can provide significant relief. Nonoperative management should be the mainstay of treatment for many spinal conditions; however, when this fails, it is my job to help patients sort through their surgical options.”
Dr. Wiley, his wife Heather and their children are excited to make East Texas home. Azalea Orthopedics is thrilled to welcome them to the family.
