Dr. John Fisher is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, shoulder surgery, arthroscopic surgery, and fracture care. He treats a broad range of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, with a particular interest in shoulder reconstruction, knee ligament injuries, meniscus tears, rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, and shoulder arthritis.
Dr. Fisher completed his undergraduate degree at The University of Texas at Austin, graduating cum laude with a business certification through the McCombs School of Business. He earned both his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Business Administration in Health Organization Management from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he served as Class President. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, followed by advanced fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at Steadman Hawkins of the Carolinas.
A native East Texan, Dr. John Fisher is proud to serve patients throughout Athens, Tyler, and the surrounding communities. Before medicine, he worked as a commercial electrician, an experience that shaped his hands-on approach to orthopedic surgery: understanding the mechanics of the problem, identifying the source, and building a treatment plan that helps patients return to the activities they enjoy.
