Dr. Ryan Patterson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who sub-specializes in complex hand and elbow injuries.  His training includes an orthopedic surgery residency at the renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, followed by a hand, upper extremity and microsurgical fellowship at the Wake Forest University / North Carolina Baptist Hospital. To add to his training, Dr. Patterson completed his CAQ (Certificate of Added Qualification). In 2019, 2020 and 2021, Texas Monthly Magazine recognized his talent with their Rising Stars award.  Additionally in 2021, The Tyler Morning Telegraph presented Dr. Patterson with the readers’ choice “One of The Best in Town” award for the best surgeon in Tyler.

In 2022, 2023 and 2024, Dr. Patterson was recognized as a Texas Monthly Super Doctor.

“It’s essential to provide patients with as much information and as many options as possible to create a tailored medical plan that works best for them. Often, non-operative treatment is the best approach, but when surgery is required, I rely on evidence-based procedures to create reproducible outcomes.”

His other interests include problems with hands, forearms, elbows, shoulders and general fractures. To preserve muscles and tendons, he prefers to use minimally invasive techniques when appropriate.

Dr. Patterson has published numerous scientific articles and presented many research studies in orthopedics and hand surgery regionally, nationally and internationally.
