Vanessa Laws is a certified Physician Assistant working at the Azalea Orthopedics Athens office. Vanessa earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Howard Payne University, Brownwood, Texas where she was a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, an organization committed to serving others and academic excellence. During her time with Gamma Beta Phi, she served as President for one year. Vanessa went on to complete her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas. She spent several years working at the Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas during her high school, undergraduate and Masters training.

Vanessa’s professional career has been focused on providing exemplary care to others. Her care philosophy is based on a patient-centered approach with a strong emphasis on educating her patients about their condition and treatment, as well as empowering patients to be part of their healthcare decision-making process. Vanessa is dedicated to helping her patients understand the purpose and benefits of their particular procedure, therapy or medication through clear communication and education so that they can experience the best possible outcomes.

Orthopedics was the specialty that initially drew Vanessa to medicine, and she has had extensive immersion in the field over the years. After beginning her PA career in the meticulous field of neurosurgery, she has been able to return to her passion of orthopedics here in East Texas, with the same thorough and targeted evaluation she was trained to employ. Vanessa is grateful to have already spent many years serving patients in Athens and surrounding areas.

Vanessa is a professional member of the American Association of Physician Assistants (AAPA), Texas Association of Physician Assistants (TAPA), Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery (PAOS), and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

When not seeing patients, she enjoys all things creative, talking about Jesus, traveling to tropical destinations and spending time with her family.
